Federal Skilled Trades

The Federal Skilled Trades Program is for foreign skilled workers who want to immigrate to Canada and become permanent residents based on being qualified in a skilled trade.

To qualify, you must meet the requirements of this program as follows:

  • plan to live outside of the Quebec
  • meet the required levels of English or French language proficiency test
  • have at least 2 years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of a part time) in a skilled trade within the 5 years before you apply
  • meet all job requirements for that skilled trade as a set out in the National Occupational Classification (NOC)and
  • have an offer of a full-time employment for a total period of at least 1 year or a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a provincial or territorial body

Within the 5,000 cap, no more than 100 new applications for each job will be considered for processing.
